I'm in the market for a .22LR bolt action rifle. Not a cheapo Savage from the farm store, but a nice wood and blued steel gun with a decent scope and a good trigger. I've narrowed it down to a CZ 457 or a Tikka, and probably a Vortex rimfire scope or maybe my old 6x Cabela's Alaskan Guide. What are all of your favorite .22s? Am I overlooking any good rifles? (Sorry, no 10/22s here, I just don't like them.)

You're looking sharp with the CZ 457 and Tikka T1x. Tikka's trigger is buttery smooth and great for precision, while the CZ's got that classic wood-and-steel vibe plus easy barrel swaps. Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32's great for rimfire, but if you like vintage glass, that Cabela's Alaskan Guide 6x still hits hard. Both top-tier

If you're into classic styles and want the best accuracy you can find, you really can't go wrong with CZ and Anschutz. They're truly in a league of their own.

CZ 457 with the walnut finish is definitely my pick if you're going for that classic wood and blue look. Not only does it look stunning, but it also shoots well. Honestly, the trigger on this thing is so smooth that it totally justifies the higher price compared to other rifles. You won't regret investing in it....

When it comes to scopes, you really can't go wrong with the Vortex Crossfire II Rimfire. If you've still got that old trusty 6x Alaskan Guide around, and it’s holding zero just fine, why not enjoy it? It might be a fun retro pairing with the CZ.

Yeah it used to be on my 223 coyote rifle and it was great for that. I used it to shoot my best group with that rifle, well under 1 MOA. It's been in the safe for 6 or 7 years, it should still be G2G...

My granda's Remington Speedmaster .22 semi auto rifle from the 1950's still shoots just fine with the Weaver 4x scope that it had on it when he gave it to me.

If you’re checking out other options in that price range, you should definitely give Bergara BMR a look. It’s got some impressive accuracy and feels really nice in your hands.

I looked at those, but I'd rather have a wood stock. Bergara has a great reputation and I'm sure they're great shooters...
