I'm planning a trip to visit some family and need to figure out the best route. I want to bring a firearm along, but I know passing through New York State can be a real hassle with those strict laws. Skipping NY means adding quite a bit of drive time, so I'm trying to weigh my options. I've heard of some folks taking the long way around or even making stops to avoid that state entirely. Anyone else gone through this before? What did you end up doing? I'm open to suggestions on routes or any tips.
