Thinking about keeping ramen in the gear stash. Sure, it ain't the most nutrient-rich, but man, it’s cheap and can fill you up. I've got a few cases tucked away but just how long are they good after the date? Plus, any tips on better storage than just leaving 'em in the box? Anyone else mixing ramen into their long-term plans? Seems like they outlast their expiration, right?

Instant ramen can actually last a year or 2 beyond its expiration date if you store it right. The noodles themselves are pretty stable, but you might want to keep an eye on those flavor packets. If you ever notice a weird smell or see that the packet's puffed up a bit, just throw it. But if everything seems normal, it's probably still good for a last-minute meal or when you just need something quick

In my experience, ramen can actually stay good for 6mos to a year beyond that printed date, especially if you store it properly. But I wouldn’t just leave it sitting in that cardboard box forever. If you want to make sure it lasts as long as possible, put it into a sealed plastic bin or if you really want it to keep it fresh, you might even want to vacuum seal those individual packs.

"Use by dates" are mostly, "throw this out and buy another one" dates.
I always took it that since there is little or no nutrition they could have found a bag in the Pyramids and it would still be just as good.:giggle::giggle::giggle:
