Attorney General (AG) Bondi is out, and the USPS handgun mailing ban is unconstitutional, according to the Department of Justice.
Remember the debacle in Florida years ago, when she, as Florida State AG prosecuted George Zimmerman for what was clearly a lawful self-defense case when the County Prosecutor and a local grand jury refused to indict him. Of course, the jury found Mr. Zimmerman not guilty. Florida gun owners and 2A groups were glad to be rid of her.
Let’s hope that we see further pro-2A position improvements at the DOJ, but as we all know, it takes a while to turn a big ship.

AG PAM BONDI IS LEAVING THE DOJ
Many sources were reporting that AG Bondi was about to be fired. It turned out they were partially right, but not on the timing or circumstances. In my opinion, AG Bondi was not as good or consistent as I would have hoped on the 2nd Amendment, but she was a vast improvement compared to nearly any prior AG in recent history on the issue.Remember the debacle in Florida years ago, when she, as Florida State AG prosecuted George Zimmerman for what was clearly a lawful self-defense case when the County Prosecutor and a local grand jury refused to indict him. DOJ ISSUES STATEMENT THAT HANDGUN
From the NRA-ILA press release on this; This is huge, as it allows Americans to travel the country and have their handguns ready and waiting for them upon their arrival at their destinations. So, going on a hunt, or a competition, a shooting school, or just on vacation to see Grandma in another state no longer requires Americans to sacrifice their right to bear arms in order to stay out of jail as they pass through states that are run by dangerous anti-gun quacks enforcing unconstitutional laws.“…Last week, the USPS announced a proposed rule to modify its regulations to allow certain firearms to be legally shipped through the mail. This legal reassessment is in response to the recent Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel opinion concluding that the nearly 100-year old federal prohibition on mailing “concealable” firearms is unconstitutional. The proposed rule includes important clarifications and policy changes:
Revisions to Publication 52 specify clear definitions of “mailable firearms” and “nonmailable firearms” consistent with OLC’s opinion. The proposed revisions expand the scope of mailable firearms compared to the existing regulations by allowing lawful handguns to be mailed under the same terms and conditions as lawful rifles and shotguns. These conditions continue to require, among other things, that mailed firearms be unloaded. Additionally, otherwise nonmailable handguns will remain mailable between authorized persons consistent with Section 1715.
The rulemaking process allows for public comments to be submitted until May 4, 2026. While the usual option of submitting comments through the government’s online portal does not apply in this case, emails will be accepted. USPS advises: “If sending comments by email, include the name and address of the commenter and send to [email protected], with a subject line of ‘Shipping Firearms.’”
