I'm looking for a reliable rifle scope under $300 that can handle some rough conditions. I hunt deer in varying light and need something that won't lose zero after a few shots. What have you had success with?

All of mine were Nikon but since they no longer sell scopes, I try to buy Vortex. Their warranty is excellent. I watched a video where a muzzleloader class was being conducted, and a guy double charged his and it blew a Vortex Golden Eagle to pieces. Vortex replaced it even though it was the shooters fault.

Bushnell has some decent scopes right around the $200-300 dollar range, but I wouldn't get the Walmart ones. I'd also check the used scope market. I got a Cabela's Alaskan Guide used a few years back for $90, and it was probably $300 new. It's very good glass.

You "might" be able to find some Leupold Freedom series rifle scopes in the price range, particularly if they are used. I have a Freedom series scope on my daughter's CVA Scout in 350 Legend and it works very well. What rifle/ML will you be putting it on? Good rings are very important if it is a caliber that has some recoil to it, as well as making sure the screws are torqued correctly. I always use some blue locktite as well on those scope rings screws.
