A good 357 revolver with a 4 inch barrel is easy to shoot when using 38 special ammo for beginners. With experience and practice you can move up to full 357 or defense loads. I have a Sig 45 that has minimal recoil and a great carry gun. If you have a local range where you can rent different handguns, that would be your best bet. Find something you like and as the man said" practice, practice, practice." When it becomes.second nature and you've informed yourself of all local carry laws and most importantly, have the correct mindset, you're ready to carry. I would not recommend you carry until all of the above criteria are met. Carrying a weapon is a great responsibility and the liability you take on in today's legal maze cannot be emphasized enough. Good luck and enjoy getting to know your new weapon.
