Oh I forgot about Super 38. That is an old standby. Made to the same length as 45 ACP so feeding is still the original geometry. It's a reloaders dream, I really like to shoot cast with mine. Have a .40 slide that cycles 38 just fine.I have a Sig 45 that was my first in that caliber. Great shooter, older made in Germany, not finicky on ammo. I've probably put around 800 rounds through it in 20 years and never had a failure if any kind. I have a couple older series 70 Colts, 9mm and 38 super, they are a little looser but as you said, easy to take care of. You'll have to get yourself one. You can pick a shooter up pretty reasonable or get a SA at a reasonable price also. Glad you got some range time in.
